Day 25: Where to Share

Today is Day 25 of the Email Growth Challenge for Nonprofits and since you now know how to build a ton of resources like:

  • Resources

  • Freebies

  • Events to lean on other audiences

  • Quizes

  • Cross promotions

  • Petitions

…I want to be very clear on how to share them. 🗣️

 Because creating the thing is not enough—you have to promote it…LOUDLY. 

 Here's how you do it:


🛠️ How to share the opt-in you built

 Step 1: Make a list of all the places you could share. 

 Some ideas include:

  • Your website pop-up

  • Your website footer

  • A banner on your website

  • To your current email list

  • To your LinkedIn page

  • To your other social media pages

  • In an ad

  • In a Facebook or community group

  • On reddit

  • In a podcast interview

  • In a blog

  • In another nonprofit's email list

  • Your email signature

Step 2: Build some graphics in Canva to make it visually attractive.

 Step 3: Write some copy that gets people interested, curious and excited about your offer. If you want an awesome example, Mackenzie on my team wrote this post on LinkedIn about this 30-Day Challenge that went wild.

 Step 4: Take your graphics, your copy and your opt-in link and post it everywhere. 

 Then, in a few days or a week—do it again

 Honestly, you should plan on talking about it 10X more than you think you need to because…

  1. Not everyone in your audience will see it if you only post about it one time

  2. Humans need LOTS of reminder 😉


💡 Why it works

 99.9% of the employees I know who work at nonprofit are humble—too humble if I'm being honest. 

 They don't want to come off as “salesy” and so…

  • they don't promote their events loud enough

  • they don't fundraise aggressively enough

  • they don't post often enough

The truth is: no one is paying as close attention to you and your nonprofit as you think they are.

 When you promote things far and wide—you are doing busy folks a favor. ✨

 Someone out there might really want what you are offering, but if they can't see it or find it—they will never get it.

 Depending on your opt-in, you can expect new subscribers in the dozens all the way up to the thousands.

 Believe it or not—promotion does not come easy to me. After 9+ years I still struggle with it.
