Day 18: Sharing your freebie on podcasts

Today on LinkedIn, I talked about the difference between what consultants often offer up as advice vs. what I'd actually do if I was trying to find my next 1,000 donors.

Consultants want you to build foundationsssss, and systemssss and do everything by the book.

But if I was a nonprofit leader who had a goal of finding more donors—the truth is—I'd just go. And I'd get LOUD.

 Fast momentum. 💨

Showing up as a podcast guest is a fantastic way to get the word out about your nonprofit.

At the end of almost eery interview, the interviewer usually asks, “Where can people get more information?” and 99% of guests point them to a website. 👎

Instead, you can and should point them to your best free resource aka—the thing people actually want.

Here's how to do it.

🛠️ How to share your free resource on a podcast

Step 1: Make the link to getting your free resource something SUPER simple.

For example, insertyournonprofit’sname.org/freebie

Step 2: Weave your freebie or free resource into your podcast conversation where you can.

Step 3: At the end, when the podcast host asks you, “Where can people find more information?” talk about your value-add freebie. You should say something like, “We share the best content like our (insert name of freebie) on our email list. You can sign up at: insertyournonprofit’sname.org/newsletter.”

Most folks would direct people to a social media account or website—but you’re more strategic than that. ☺️

💡 Why it works

If people enjoy a guest they are listening to—they will want to go deeper, learn more and even stay connected.

By sharing your resource, you are proactively getting people to your email list, not just your website.
